BSDF (Bidirectional Scattering Distribution Function) data becomes a must to achieve better efficiency in optical design, especially for LED light sources and solar cell. The reflectance of the reflector cup within the LED, the reflectance and the transmittance of the diffuser are necessary data for optical simulation. With the accurate and fine data, the result generated by the simulation software is more trust-able, and the cost for poor design is reduced.

RT-300, by J & C technology, is a computer based fully automatic BSDF measurement system. As indicated by the name, BSDF which is the general term of BRDF (Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function) and BTDF (Bidirectional Transmittance Distribution Function), RT-300 is capable of measuring the BRDF data and BTDF data. It is equipped with 3 motorized axis which can cover the semi-sphere area. This system also provides an easy way to maintain the azimuth angle and the polar angle of the incident light, while most of the scattering systems have a capability to maintain the polar angle only.



There are two light source modules (halogen light source and LASER light source with a variety of wavelengths from 405 to 980 nm) that are exchangeable. With these exchangeable light sources, the BSDF of a material under test can be fully realized.

RT-300 has two detector modules, spectrometer and photo detector. Colorimetric measurement can be realized with the spectrometer and halogen light source. The 107 dynamic range is fulfilled with the photo detector module.

With RT-300, user can visualize the BSDF at different wavelength if spectrometer is used as the detector module. The data can be presented as 2D iso-plot and 3D iso-plot, also be imported by will known optical simulation software, su
ch as ASAP, Light Tools.

In addition to the example materials mentioned in the first paragraph, RT-300 can also measure the BSDF of any kind of materials such as plastic, paper, metallic, paints and glass with ITO coating. So, the fields of application that the RT-300 can be utilized are not limited to the paper industry, car industry, movie animation industry, but also the more advanced technology such as personal electric appliance industry (mobile phone, iPhone, iPod, E-paper, Kindle, etc), LED lighting industry, solar industry, etc. Also, RT-300 is compact and very easy to use.

SDR Specifications
Traditionally surface property analysis utilized goniometric instrument while it requires a long measurement time and highly accuracy optical alignment.  SDR-300S system is adopting entire spectrum and Conoscopic Lens method which is dramatically improved existing Goniophotometric measurement devices disadvantages such as a wide angle measurement, optical alignment and measurement time issue.

   With cooling embodied CCD, reproducibility of the data and accuracy are enhanced. And also this system is very convenient to your production line by its compact design and low price even more within a few seconds of the Bi-Directional Scattering Reflectance Transmittance measurement.
